Scholarships and Fellowships:

Established in 1946, the Fulbright Program aims to increase mutual understanding between the peoples of the United States and other countries, through the exchange of persons, knowledge, and skills. Awards are available in all fields of study.
U.S. citizens who will hold at least a bachelor's degree or its equivalent prior to undertaking the grant are eligible. In most cases, candidates must be proficient in the language of the proposed host country. The type of grants available are:
(1) Fulbright Full Grants are available to graduating and graduate students, and alumni who present a clear program of study to be carried out in a particular academic setting abroad.
(2) English Teaching Assistantships in 50+ countries. More are added each year. Each country has slightly different requirements.

Fulbright Grants provide round-trip transportation to host country; maintenance for the academic year, based on living costs in the host country; book and research allowance; medical insurance; mid-term enrichment activities in many countries or world regions; full or partial tuition, in most cases (see relevant Country Summary for details); language or orientation programs, in some cases (see relevant Country Summary for details)
