Boren Graduate Fellowship (NSEP)
Deadline: 2017-01-31 (National)
The National Security Education Program (NSEP) David L. Boren Graduate Fellowships enable U.S. graduate students to add an important international and language component to their education through specialization in area study, language study, or increased language proficiency. Boren Fellowships support students pursuing the study of languages, cultures, and world regions that are critical to U.S. national security but are less frequently studied by U.S. graduate students (i.e., areas of the world other than Western Europe, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand), and who are highly motivated by the opportunity to work in the federal government.
Applicants must be U.S. citizens applying to a graduate degree program at an accredited two or four year college or university located in the Unites States; proof of admission is also required. The applicant must agree to the service agreement that states that the student must work with an agency or office of federal government involved with national security offices. The time of service is equal to the period of time an award recipient is supported and must be completed no later than five years after graduation or termination from the program.
1-6 academic semesters (24 months)
Fellowships provide support for overseas or domestic study, or a combination of both. The maximum award for overseas study is $12,000 per semester for up to two semesters. A maximum of $12,000 is available for a program of domestic study only. The maximum level of support for a combined overseas and domestic program is $30,000.
Candidates do not need institutional endorsement to apply for a Boren Graduate Fellowship. See website for complete details on how to apply.
