Churchill Scholarships offer American students of exceptional ability, enrolled at one of the institutions participating in the program, the opportunity to pursue graduate studies in engineering, mathematics and the sciences at Cambridge, one of the world\'s great universities. The Scholarships also provide the opportunity to experience life in Britain, to forge friendships with British students and those from many other lands who are enrolled at Cambridge, to see something of Britain and lands beyond, to see the United States from a new perspective and to gain personal insights about oneself that come from living abroad and adjusting to new challenges.
Applicants for a Churchill Scholarship must be citizens of the United States and must be seniors enrolled in one of the institutions participating in the scholarship competition, or recent graduates. Upon taking up a Churchill Scholarship, one must be between the ages of 19 and 26, hold a bachelor\'s degree or its equivalent from a United States college or university, and not have attained a doctorate.

They also receive a travel allowance of up to $1,200. There is also the possibility of a special research grant of up to $2,000. Depending on the field of study and recent rates of exchange, the value of a Churchill Scholarship is approximately $44,000 to $50,000.
Applicants must be endorsed by UVa. Application requirements include a two-page personal statement and four letters of recommendation from individuals in your discipline. All applicants for the Churchill Scholarship must ALSO apply directly to the University of Cambridge by the mid-October deadline for New Applicants from the United States of America.
