25 Oct 2007:  With the editing phase over and the journal ready to be formatted, effort can once more be put into adding content to the site.   The join page is now up, so if you are interested in becoming a part of The Oculus please check that out.   Watch for more site updates soon!

11 Oct 2007:  Selections have been made for the Fall 2007 issue of The Oculus.   We would like to congratulate the following students for submitting outstanding articles:

  • Benjamin McVane: "Interpersonal Factors in Decision-Making for HIV Vaccine Trial Participation"
  • Linda Liu: "Gender-Specific Gene Expression in Chinese and Japanese Individuals"
  • Dean de la Pena, Adam Bozeman, Aman George, and Xaio Wang: "Hong Kong and China: Economic Implications of Increasing Co-Dependence"
  • Cyrus Dreyer: "Improved Warm-forming Properties of ZW41 Magnesium Alloy"
  • Yasir Latifi: "Faith, Fervor and Tolerance: The Effect of Religious Dimensions on Views of Islam"

Thanks to everyone who submitted; we had over 50 submissions again this semester.   If your article was not selected, don't get discouraged.   We received many good articles and it was tough to narrow it down to a slate of seven.

20 Sept 2007:  Submissions are now closed for the Fall 2007 issue.   Thanks to everyone who submitted an article, we received over 50!   Please expect to know whether you have been selected in approximately two weeks.

12 Sept 2007:  The submissions deadline is only a week away, so be sure to send in your paper.   If you have questions about submissions please check the Contributor Guidelines or email the Editor-in-Chief at oculus@virginia.edu.

25 Aug 2007:  The Beta website is up and content is slowly being added.   Check in frequently!
