Research Focus: My laboratory uses rat models to delineate the neurobiological basis of addiction. I am particularly interested in determining the biological basis of sex differences in vulnerability to addiction.

Job Description: Students will run the behavioral sessions and help maintain the animals.  If interested, studies will learn surgical procedures and data analysis. 10 hrs/week plus one weekend/month is required. 

Required Skills/Knowledge: Prior laboratory handling skills would be beneficial, but are not required.

Computer Software: Office, SPSS

Training: Students will need to undergo animal handler training prior to starting in the laboratory. 

What You Will Learn:

  1. Learn how to study the neurobiology of addiction using animal models,
  2. Learn animal handling techniques as well as small animal surgical techniques (if interested),
  3. Learn how to collect and analyze data generated from project.
