Research Focus: My laboratory uses rat models to delineate the neurobiological basis of addiction. I am particularly interested in determining the biological basis of sex differences in vulnerability to addiction.
Job Description: Students will run the behavioral sessions and help maintain the animals. If interested, studies will learn surgical procedures and data analysis. 10 hrs/week plus one weekend/month is required.
Required Skills/Knowledge: Prior laboratory handling skills would be beneficial, but are not required.
Computer Software: Office, SPSS
Training: Students will need to undergo animal handler training prior to starting in the laboratory.
What You Will Learn:
- Learn how to study the neurobiology of addiction using animal models,
- Learn animal handling techniques as well as small animal surgical techniques (if interested),
- Learn how to collect and analyze data generated from project.
