APAutumn is finally here!!

APAutumn is an annual week-long event promoting Asian and Asian American culture on grounds. We hope to bring a variety of students together to learn and celebrate our unique culture. This year, with our theme of “Raise Your Voice!”, we are promoting political advocacy for the coming Presidential Election. Check out the following events to learn more about the A/APA community on grounds!

The end is near…so go out with a BANGing date from ASU’s annual Date Auction event! We have 13 charming guys and lovely ladies for you to bid on as your date for Semiformal this year! All proceeds for the event go directly to Direct Relief International, a charity committed to assisting with disaster relief, as well as providing medicine to local healthcare providers in resource-poor communities around the world. So come out on Wednesday, October 17th from 7-9 pm to Newcomb Theater to claim your date for Semiformal! The year is 2012, and the end is coming…so it’s now or never.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and UVa alpha Kappa Delta Phi Sorority Inc. Sigma Chapter is hosting our 11th annual BREAST CANCER AWARENESS BENEFIT CONCERT! Help support Breast Cancer Awareness by attending this concert- all proceeds go directly to the Avon Breast Cancer Crusade.

The concert includes a special performance by the ArchiTEKS, who were featured on MTV’s America’s Best Dance Crew.

Please join us for the Closing Ceremony of APAutumn to cap off an invigorating week celebrating and promoting political advocacy and civic engagement within the Asian/ Asian Pacific American Community. This year’s Closing Ceremony will feature prominent Asian American activist Yul Kwon. Yul Kwon first gained national recognition as the winner of the reality TV show Survivor: Cook Islands in 2006. Since then he has been a legislative aide, a judicial clerk, a deputy chief at the Federal Communications Commission, and one of People Magazine’s Sexiest Men Alive; he currently hosts the series America Revealed on PBS.
