DiAPAson Leadership Training

Di . a . pa . son (n.)
1. A full, rich outpouring of harmonious sound.
2. The entire range of an instrument or voice.

DiAPAson was first held in the Spring of 2002, arising from the disparity in leadership experiences among the newly elected leaders of the numerous Asian/Asian Pacific American student organization at UVA. DiAPAson serves as a half-day retreat for executive board members of organizations, highlighting all the resources UVA has to offer student leaders. This event also provides team building activites in order to create and nurture relationships among student leaders to facilitate collaboration in the future, particularly within the context of the Asian Leaders Council.

Asian Leaders Council
The ALC serves as a gathering for the leaders of all Asian/Asian Pacific American student groups, with the expressed purpose of not only planning events with one another but also discussing any issues currently or potentially affecting the A/APA community. For more information, please contact Amy Chen, Asian Student Union External Vice President.

Peer Advising and Family Network (PAFN)
1st year and transfer students can apply to be a PAFN advisee during the summer prior to their arrival at UVA. Advisees are paired with 2 upperclass advisors and form a small "family" with a few other advisees. These families are then grouped under the different PAFN chairs to form extended families that get together for various activities and events. For more information, please contact Yushin Wung and/or Byron Cheon.
