Casa Bolivar

La Casa Bolivar (Spanish House) a language/culture immersion residence hall affiliated with the Spanish Department and closely linked to the Hispanic/Latino student community. Casa Bolivar houses about two dozen students, providing them with an atmosphere to improve their Spanish and to earn one academic credit in the process. The Casa Bolivar also sponsors various programs and cultural events throughout the year that are open to members of University Community.

Through its name, La Casa Bolivar honors UVA's first Latin American student, Fernando Bolivar, nephew of patriot Simon Bolivar.

Bolivar Network

“The Bolívar Network of the University of Virginia is an inclusive alumni organization dedicated to reaching out to and advocating for all Latinos, Hispanics and Latin American birth, origin, or affinity alumni, students and friends of the University of Virginia's Latino community by connecting to each other and to the University.”

Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities

The mission of the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) is to: “promote the development of member colleges and universities;” “improve access to and the quality of post-secondary educational opportunities for Hispanic students;” and “To meet the needs of business, industry and government through the development and sharing of resources, information and expertise.”

Hispanic College Fund, Inc.

“The Hispanic College Fund provides talented and underprivileged Hispanic youth with vision, mentors, resources and scholarships.”

Hispanic Scholarship Fund

“In support of its mission to double the rate of Hispanics earning college degrees, HSF provides the Latino community with college scholarships and educational outreach support.”

National Association for Latino Fraternal Organizations

“NALFO (National Association of Latino Fraternal Organizations) is an umbrella council for Latino Greek Letter Organizations. Mission Statement: The purpose of NALFO is to promote and foster positive interfraternal relations, communication, and development of all Latino Fraternal organizations through mutual respect, leadership, honesty, professionalism and education.”
