Have your voice heard! Join the 2012-2013 LGBT Resource Center Operating Board!
The LGBT Resource Center Operating Board governs the decision making for the Center, providing and planning annual programs, events, and volunteer coordination.
The Op Board is comprised of representatives from QSU, QUAA, Sigma Omicron Rho, and the following available positions:
Interns (3 positions available)
Serve as Volunteer Coordinator, run Coffee Hour, organize and publicize annual events and programs (Queer Prom, Proud to be Out Week, Lavender Graduation, speakers, t-shirt campaigns, etc), maintain Resource Center library, assist in the overall functioning of the Resource Center, and assist with the Safe Space program as a co-facilitator and organizer (assignments based on interest).
LGBT Health
Work with the AIDS/HIV Service Group (ASG) of Charlottesville to arrange monthly HIV testing on Grounds, as well as work on addressing issues of intimate partner violence and sexual assault. Be a liaison to Sexual Assault Leadership Council
Speakers Bureau
Train speakers and organize panels to educate the community about LGBTQ issues. Panels will be presented to different groups around Grounds and Charlottesville, such as Greek organizations, youth groups, diversity workshops, and residence halls.
Minority Squared (Queer People of Color)
Facilitate/maintain a social and interest group for students who identify as both queer/questioning and a person of color. Plan programs and events addressing the intersectionality of race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, and gender.
LGBTQ Greeks United (GQ)
Serve as a liaison to the U.Va. Greek community, providing outreach and support for LGBTQ members of the Greek community.
Transgender at UVA(Living Gender)
The T is not silent. Serve on the Operating Board to further issues of gender identity, expression, and equality on Grounds via interactions with students, faculty and administrators, programming, and outreach.
Queer Grads
Organize social events and maintain listserv for graduate students. Activities vary each semester. Previous activities have included wine tastings, mixers, happy hours, brunches, etc.
