The staff in the Office of the Dean of Students and Student Activities is excited to provide a series of workshops for CIOs this fall. These workshops are a direct result of feedback from CIOs and are designed to provide student organization leaders with the tools and resources in areas such as budgeting, website development, event planning, fundraising, membership accountability, and using applications such as The Source and Sympa. Below is a complete list of workshops and information on registration:
WordPress 101
This workshop will provide information for using Wordpress. In order to maximize the workshop, please review the document found at: https://wiki.shanti.virginia.edu/display/KB/Getting+Started+with+WordPress. Organizations should complete the initial steps to set-up a website in Wordpress prior to the workshop. Similarly, if your organization is currently hosting a website using Wordpress.com, please come prepared with log-in information so that you can access your dashboard.

Show Me the Money!
Have you ever wondered how your CIO can find funding around Grounds? If so, this workshop will help you understand the appropriations process and discover funding/fundraising resources around grounds for your CIO! This program is recommended for Treasurers and Presidents of CIOs.

Revealing the Corks and Curls of Sympa and The Source
Have you ever wanted to know how to decode Sympa? Do you need to know how to navigate THE SOURCE? During this workshop the basic functions of Sympa and THE SOURCE will be discussed. Students will learn the best practices of each system and be able to navigate both systems with ease by the end of the workshop.

Discover your leadership potential with the Student Leadership Practices Inventory
This workshop will help students identify and determine their leadership style and leadership strengths. Students will be able to incorporate the learned practices from the workshop into the management of their CIOs and organizations across grounds.
In preparation for the course students will need to take the Student Leadership Practices Inventory. Once students register for the workshop they can stop by room 164 to pick up a copy of the inventory.

Should I stay or Should I Go? The Committee Member Dilemma
Ever wondered why people leave groups, stay in groups and how to hold members accountability? If so, this workshop will talk about some of the typical reasons and give solutions on how to hold people accountable to the group itself and tips on how to have those tough conversations.
