The STUDENTS WITH CHILDREN Page!

The Office of the Dean of Students works with students who have children, in support of their education, health, and well-being.

Katie Hamm; Prof. Joseph Allen; the Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies Program; and AlbemarleKids recognized with SWC Awards.

Open Drop-In Times (no appointment needed) are offered during school terms; the Fall days and times will be announced here as soon as known.

What we strive for: To connect undergraduate and graduate students who are parents - or are facing/considering that prospect - with available resources, including each other, to help further their education, health, and well-being.

To reach us: Dean Nicole Eramo of the Dean of Students/Office of Student Life can be reached at npe5f@virginia.edu, 924-7133). We're on 2nd floor of Peabody Hall, between Alderman Library and McIntire School of Commerce. Mail address: Box 400708, UVa, Charlottesville VA 22904-0708.

What we do: (1) We work with students one-on-one and in groups. One-on-one meetings are by appointment or (2) at regular "drop-in times" (to be announced). (3) We connect students with academic, health, and other resources at the University and beyond - and are available to work with other offices at the University. (4) We advocate for the needs of students with children in a variety of forums.

Want to be on our email list? Just write to this address: owner-studentswithchildren@virginia.edu and we'll subscribe you. The list is completely confidential and exists only to provide you with information.

Child-care alternatives: Undergraduate Babysitters (UB), launched this past year, matches undergraduate students with fellow students who have children, for regular weekly or biweekly babysitting times. If interested - either as a student parent or as a potential babysitter - please contact Emily Thomann (ejt3k@virginia.edu).
