Undergraduate Spotlight -- Michael Benonis

Q & A with Michael Benonis, 4th year Electrical Engineering major
- Age: 22
- Year in School: Fourth-year
- Hometown: Ashburn, VA
- Why U.Va.? I fell in love with U.Va. when I visited for Days on the Lawn. I couldn't imagine myself going anywhere else.
- Major/ Minor/ concentration: Electrical Engineering (Communications Hardware)
- U.Va. Drama resume: Oklahoma!, Luminosity (Sound Designer); Songs for a New World, HAIR! (Assistant Sound Designer); Oklahoma!, Songs for a New World, HAIR!, For Colored Girls... (Sound Engineer). Heritage Theatre Festival: The Light in the Piazza, City of Angels (Sound Engineer).
- Best thing about U.Va. Drama: The people. U.Va. Drama really feels like a family to me.
- Worst thing about U.Va. Drama: The temperature in the building. It's either a sauna or an industrial freezer. Seriously, how hard can it be to regulate the temperature in a building in 2008?
- What are you most excited about for the Spring 2009 semester? I'm excited to be passing my knowledge on to other students, who will continue to help with sound for the next few years.
- Summer and/or post-U.Va. goals? Heritage for the summer (Sound Engineer), and then a Ph.D.-track program in Electrical Engineering.
