U.Va. Drama welcomes visiting artist Sandy Shinner, former Associate Artistic Director for the Tony Award-winning Victory Gardens Theater in Chicago.  Ms. Shinner was with Victory Gardens Theater for 33 years and she serves as an Adjunct Professor for DePaul University where last semester she taught a Playwrights Seminar and Directing.  Her long and notable career includes Off-Broadway productions of Trying (with Fritz Weaver), Bluff, Flyovers (with Richard Kind, Michelle Pawk).  During her tenure at Victory Gardens Theater she directed over fifty productions including In the Next Room (or The Vibrator Play), Four Places, Winter (with Julie Harris and Mike Nussbaum),  Love Person, and The Washington- Sarajevo Talks (with Deanna Dunagan and Raul Esparza). Ms. Shinner has also directed at Steppenwolf Theater’s First Look Series, Actors Theater of Louisville Humana Festival, Rivendell Theatre Ensemble, American Blues Theater, and Remy Bumppo Theatre.
 
Ms. Shinner will direct U.Va. Drama’s production of Jenny Schwartz's God's Ear February 21-23, 26-28, and Mar1-2.
