Author of two books, Himalayan Hermitess: The Life of a Tibetan Buddhist Nun (Oxford, 2004), and Dreaming the Great Brahmin: Tibetan Traditions of the Buddhist Poet-Saint Saraha (Oxford, 2005). Currently researching the rise of the Dalai Lamas in seventeenth-century Central Tibet, as well as the history of books and written culture in Tibet. Interested most broadly in the cultural history of Tibetan religion.
