Professor Yu earned a B.A. equivalent from Shanghai Teachers University before receiving his M.A. in Linguistics from the University of Exeter, Great Britain. He received a Ph.D. in Philosophy in Education from the University of Virginia. He now serves as Assistant Dean of the Office of African-American Affairs (OAAA) and is the Program Coordinator for the Global Business Experience in China program at the UVA Darden School of Business. He lectures on China at the School of Commerce and teaches Chinese calligraphy at the School of Continuing Education and Professional Studies at UVA.
