UVA China Gateway Program 2007
The UVA China Gateway Program (May 23?July 18, 2007) is specially designedby UVA faculty to complement the university curriculum. This program willallow students to earn UVA credit and grades, not simply transfer credit.Participants will take an interdisciplinary study of Chinese language,
art/culture, and history/society that will utilize local guest speakers and
field trips. Students will enroll in a single six-credit UVA course: EAST
131 and ARTH 272Z (three credits each). Dorothy Wong of the Art Departmentwill accompany the group and will teach a course on Chinese art, integratingresources from the community, museums, and country into the course syllabi.With three elements - language, art/culture, history/society, followed bytwelve days of travel to Beijing, Xi'an and Kunming, the program is idealfor students who have never before traveled to China.
