Guest Speaker

Carol Garges, Secretary to the Dean, School of law:

·        Carol spoke about the Parking and Transportation Survey.

·        Most Virginia Universities charge parking fees according to the Tier System or a flat rate.

·        Right now we pay more for parking than we do for health care [note: this is the case for a single employee only]. The survey is aimed towards and should answer a lot of questions.

·        What kind of system do you want?

·        56% of classified/university staff make under $40,000 a year.  Of those, 50% are paying for parking.

·        Carol will meet with Rich Kovatch and Becca White to discuss how to proceed with the survey.

·        If reduced rate, where is the funding going to come from? Endowments, JPJ arena, and they are looking at other sources for funding.

Our next meeting will be on July 19th, 2007 from 1:30pm.-3:30pm. We will be meeting at 400 Ray C. Hunt Dr. in conference room A. We will be voting on new Chair, Vice Chair, and Secretary. Please try to attend this meeting.
