· A new emergency communication system will be in place by the fall semester. Students and employees can sign up to receive a text message in the case of an emergency. https://www.virginia.edu/uvaalerts/
· June 21 – there will be a Community Briefing at 12pm in Newcomb Hall on the University’s Sustainability Assessment, as well as “Green Procurement”. Green Procurement includes purchasing recycled or environmentally friendly products, using locally grown food instead of imported, etc. http://www.virginia.edu/architectoffice/susassessment.html.

· Facilities Management and Parking & Transportation partner with the Architect’s Office on designing, constructing and renovating projects.
· Safety and Security Guidelines – currently reviewing existing security and best practices, to incorporate safety and security into new designs and renovations.
· Highlights of the presentation include:
1. Arts Grounds parking garage – Feb 2008 completion. Will contain 600 parking spaces.
2. Rouss Hall Renovation and Addition (McIntire) – March 2008 completion. Will have a “green” roof with water features, trees, and gardens. It will be approximately 120,000 square ft.
3. Varsity Hall – December 2007 completion. The building has been moved and renovations are continuing. A paint analysis has been done on the building and it will be restored with its original colors.
4. Main Heat Plant Compliance – September 2008 completion. Adding coal power. Discussed clean burn ideas such as “co-generation”, which are turbines that use the heat off-put to freeze water for A/C chilling, and can put back into the power grid what we don’t use.
5. Hospital expansion and renovation – August 2007 completion.

Lawn Phase I – Fall 2010 completion.
Demolition and utility installation will begin this summer. The terrace construction (walkway across JPA)
