Senate Speakers Bureau
The Faculty Senate Speakers Bureau helps community and school
groups throughout the Commonwealth identify U.Va. faculty
speakers for special events and meetings at no charge. The
Speakers Bureau also serves U.Va. alumni clubs throughout
the country.
Agnes Dillon Randolph Lecture
The lectureship recognizes a nurse historian who has significantly contributed
to the history of nursing's contributions to the development of the health
care system.
Nursing Students without Borders
This student run organization is comprised of nursing students and other health
care providers to provide holistic health care and hygene to people in underserved
areas including migrant workers in Southwestern Virginia, as well as abroad.
Jefferson
Institute for Lifelong Learning (JILL)
Through the Center for University Programs, JILL offers a variety of university-level,
non-credit classes tailored to the interests of senior citizens who are eager
to learn and explore.
Cresent
Halls Nursing Clinic
This program provides health services to older citizens living in and around
the Charlottesville area.

About
the speaker
Dr. Courtney H. Lyder
is Professor of Nursing, Internal Medicine & Geriatrics
and the inaugural holder of the University of Virginia Medical
Center Professorship in Nursing at the University of Virginia.
He is also Acting Chairman, Department of Acute and Specialty
Care at the University of Virginia. In the past 10 years,
Dr. Lyder has received as a Principal Investigator or Co-Investigator
nearly $7 million in research and training grants, published
2 books, 50 journal articles and book chapters. He has given
over 200 lectures throughout the U.S. and abroad. Dr. Lyder
is a Past President of the National Pressure Ulcer Advisory
Panel. He is also a senior consultant to the U.S. Department
of Health and Human Services where he has influenced the
development of wound care regulations.
