About the speakers

Dr. Nadler  has made important contributions to understanding the pathways associated with cardiovascular disease. Dr. Nadler has over 100 peer-reviewed publications. In 2001, Dr. Nadler was selected as the Co-Chairman for the National Institute of Health (NIH) Diabetes Center review committee. He has also serves on a special advisory committee to the Director of the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) and is on the Program Committee for the ADA National Scientific Sessions.
 
Dr. Raghu Mirmira has a Ph.D. (in Biochemistry) and MD degree from the University of Chicago.  He did his postdoctoral training in the laboratory of Dr. Michael German at the University of California, San Francisco. His lab is studying the specific transcription factors, the timing of their expression, their target genes and their structural properties in developing islet cells.  Dr. Mirmira won the Thomas R. Lee Career Development Award from the American Diabetes Association to investigate how insulin-producing cells form.
