The Engineering Physics Program is a fully interdisciplinary program, which seamlessly integrates Physics and Engineering disciplines. We started the program in 1995 and have graduated more then 100 students who went on to successful careers in industry, national laboratories and in academia. A program like EP challenges and creates opportunities on many levels, academically as well as personally and enables student to develop their passion and abilities to the fullest extent. The EP program structure enables our students to take full advantage of the breadth of research offered in both disciplines. Student can choose advisors from all departments in the School of Engineering and Applied Science, and the Physics Department, and some student pursue their research in Chemistry, Astronomy or Medical Physics.
The EP program offers a personalized approach to advising - nearly every student has a different course of study within the framework of the overall course requirements - tailored to their interests and built to support their research. One of our current students recently wrote about his life as a student in the EP program.
The EP program admissions are competitive, and a high percentage of our students receive fellowships from the National Science Foundation, ... A good basis in Physics, Mathematics and/or Engineering is important for success in EP - the hard work is rewarded with unique, wonderful, and diverse opportunities in research.
