New Public Safety Substation Opens on UVA Corner

February 3, 2016 -The new Public Safety Substation in Charlottesville is now open and it will stay that way 24/7. The University of Virginia celebrated with an open house Wednesday and welcomed people into the new substation on the UVA Corner. Members of the UVA Police Department and Safety Ambassador program say they are excited to have a new space to debrief, field calls, and welcome in people who feel they are in danger. Princeton Review Ranks UVA Among Top for Return on Tuition Investment

February 2, 2016 - The University of Virginia has moved up two spots to No. 14 in the Princeton Review’s 2016 list of the top-50 schools that give the highest return on the cost of tuition. “Colleges That Pay You Back: The 200 Schools That Give You the Best Bang for Your Tuition Buck – 2016 Edition” contains six other top-25 school rankings that focus on different aspects of financial aid and career preparation. U.Va. Seeks to Slash Electric Demand in One-Hour Emergency Drill

June 23, 2015 - The University of Virginia will seek to reduce by 12 megawatts the electricity it draws from the power grid for one hour on Thursday, as part of an effort to be prepared for an "energy emergency." From 2 to 3 p.m., the University will reduce electric demand by turning off unnecessary equipment and switching several operations to generators. Sustainability officials are calling it "U.Va. February 25, 2014 - The University of Virginia is getting new phones - about 20,000 of them. As noted in the recent email to employees from Pat Hogan, U.Va.'s executive vice president and chief operating officer, the current telephone system at U.Va. - most of which is now nearly two decades old - will soon be replaced with a more modern telephone system based on VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) technology, in partnership with a vendor named Broadsoft.
