Planning Committee
Established 8 April 2004
The capital campaign that began in 2004 is the cornerstone for the University's excellence over the next two decades, particularly since state funds are playing an ever smaller role in financing University operations. The Faculty Senate takes a particular interest in assuring the excellence of the University and its programs through sound academic planning and private philanthropy, especially in essential areas that transcend the interests of the individual schools.
Membership
At least seven members appointed by the Executive Council. The chair of the committee is an ex officio member of the Executive Council.
Standing Charge
To consult with the Executive Vice President and Provost and the Senior Vice President for Development and Public Affairs, the President, and other Vice Presidents concerning academic plans and philanthropic goals and priorities, especially pan-University initiatives; to act as a faculty liaison for planning and development purposes to the Office of the Provost and the Office of University Development; and to marshal faculty resources to assist the University toward its fundraising goals.
For 2012-2013, the Planning Committee will address three academic priorities: global programs, science and engineering, and cross-grounds restructuring. The Committee is organized in clusters, one for each priority area, each cluster headed by a chair or co-chairs and engaged in dialogue with one or more administrative leaders responsible for that priority area.
