Executive Council Meeting – Thursday January 25, 2007

AGENDA

1. Report from Educational Policy Committee meeting of the BOV, Ken Schwartz

2. Policy Review Process - Hal Burbach, Teresa Culver, Yoke San Reynolds

We continued discussion about the process seeking to improve the opportunities for substantive review by faculty.  We looked at several proposed and current policies and discussed some confusion in how they might be interpreted.  Ms. Reynolds offered to bring one or more Senators into the process of reviewing the University Equipment policy proposal.  Ed Kitch has agreed to be involved.

3. Planning & Development Committee update - Marcia Childress and Ken Schwartz

Strategies moving forward this semester, time-line, etc.  The following interactions are schedule:

1/30 - Executive Council Meeting with Casteen and Block (see below)
2/6 - Organizational planning meeting with Block, Schwartz, Childress, Powell, Padron to discuss our involvement in the Ten Year Academic Plan review and the Committee on the Future of the University
2/20 – Dinner at Gene Block’s pavilion with Executive Council and Planning & Development Committee – P&D Committee to develop the agenda and extend invitations/reminders.

4. Discussion about upcoming Executive Council Meeting with Casteen and Block -- January 30 1:00 – 2:00 PM

5. Draft Agenda for January 30 Senate meeting (approved) -- Ken Schwartz & Ricardo Padron + Gene Block on Intellectual Collaboration

6. Other issues? - All
