Rebecca Kneedler called the meeting to order at 9:05 a.m. In
attendance were Jahan Ramazani, Dan Larson, Susan McKinnon, Michael
Smith, Sharon Utz, Janet Horne, Miles Townsend, Pat Werhane, Michael
Williams, Peter Low.
Peter Low, Vice President and Provost, handed out two draft
documents for the Executive Council's review and comments. One
document was "Program Review," and the other document was "Review of
Complaints Alleging Serious Misconduct by Faculty Members."
Mr. Low said the Program Review document is being developed in
response to discussions that began with the University's Self-Study.
The program review schedule will be a rotating schedule under which
all undergraduate programs and their cognate graduate programs will
undergo alternating full and interim reviews every five years. Mr.
Low and the Council discussed the document and some areas of concern.
Mr. Low said he found the discussion useful, and he invited
comments/suggestions via e-mail. It was decided that discussion of
the Program Review document will be continued at a future Executive
Council meeting.
Mr. Low gave some background on the document dealing with
faculty misconduct. The document is being developed because the
University has no formal process in place that deals with a member of
the University community filing a complaint with the head of the unit
in which the faculty member is employed alleging serious misconduct
by a faculty member. This document outlines the procedures for
filing such a complaint. This document will be discussed in detail
at a future Executive Council meeting.
The meeting adjourned at 11:50 a.m.
