FACULTY SENATE NOMINATING COMMITTEE REPORT

May 2, 2007

Committee Members:  Brie Gertler, Susan Kirk, Timothy Wilson, Ricardo Padron, Houston Wood (Chair)

The Committee has met twice this spring semester and communicated by e-mail on numerous occasions.  The positions open are Chair-elect, Secretary and two members of the Executive Council.  The by-laws require the Nominating Committee to have one nominee for each of the officer positions and two for each of the Executive Council positions.  Those going off of the Executive Council are Alison Booth (English) and Ed Kitch (Law).

The nominees for the positions are listed below, and all nominees have agreed to serve if elected.

Chair-elect:    Edmund W. Kitch, Professor of Law, who has served for the last two years on the Executive Council.

Secretary:  Pamela M. Norris, Professor of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering, who serves on the Planning & Development Committee and the Faculty Recruitment, Retention & Welfare Committee.

Executive Council:

• Jennifer Harvey, Associate Professor of Radiology, who has chaired the Faculty Recruitment, Retention & Welfare Committee of the Senate this year.
• William Kehoe, William F. O’Dell Professor of Commerce, who has chaired the ROTC Affairs Committee for several years and serves on the Planning & Development Committee.
• Alfred C. Weaver, Professor of Computer Science, who has chaired the SEAS Faculty Council, which is composed of SEAS Senators.
• Daniel Willingham, Professor Psychology, who serves on the Research & Scholarship Committee.
