Functions

This committee will be an advocate of appropriate institutional policies, support structures and facilities for research and scholarship of all kinds throughout the University. While it is likely that a number of the issues the committee will address, such as indirect costs and conflicts of interest, will primarily concern sponsored research, the central purpose of the committee is to be an advocate for all research and scholarship. Whereas the Academic Affairs Committee will formulate policies affecting faculty in the conduct of their duties in areas other than research, the Teaching, Research, & Scholarship Committee will participate in the development and review of research-related policies. This Committee is involved in the awarding of the Harrison Undergraduate Research Awards and the Double Hoo research grants.  The Committee also works with the Office of Sponsored Programs regarding research-related initiatives.
