ROTC Affairs

This committee is to function as a liaison between the University and ROTC community. It serves as a credentials review committee that recommends to the Provost the approval or denial of officers nominated for faculty positions in the military science programs of the University. The Committee also provides policy advice to the Provost when necessary.

Membership:

five members, with one or two appointed by the Executive Council each year. The membership should be primarily drawn from schools that tend to have relatively high numbers of ROTC cadets.

Functions:

This committee will review the credentials of officers seeking assignment to the UVA ROTC units and recommend approval/disapproval to the Provost. The committee also serves as liaison between the University and the ROTC community and provides policy advice to the Provost when necessary. The committee will meet with ROTC unit commanders each fall and maintain familiarity with the personnel and programs of each ROTC unit. In addition, the chair or a representative of the committee will attend functions such as commissioning exercises, Veterans' Day commemoration, and other special events. The Committee will report at least yearly to the Senate on the status of ROTC units at the University.
