ROTC Affairs
This committee is to function as a liaison between the
University and ROTC community. It serves as a credentials review
committee that recommends to the Provost the approval or denial
of officers nominated for faculty positions in the military science
programs of the University. The Committee also provides policy
advice to the Provost when necessary.
Membership:
Five members, with one or two appointed
by the Executive Council each year. The membership should be
primarily drawn from schools that tend to have relatively high
numbers of ROTC cadets.
Ex officio:
None
Term in office:
Staggered three-year terms
Functions:
This committee will review the credentials
of officers seeking assignment to the UVA ROTC units and recommend
approval/disapproval to the Provost. The committee also serves
as liaison between the University and the ROTC community and
provides policy advice to the Provost when necessary. The committee
will meet with ROTC unit commanders each fall and maintain familiarity
with the personnel and programs of each ROTC unit. In addition,
the chair or a representative of the committee will attend functions
such as commissioning exercises, Veterans' Day commemoration,
and other special events. The Committee will report at least
yearly to the Senate on the status of ROTC units at the University.
Copies of the ROTC Affairs Committee's yearly reports are
available upon request to Ann Witkower. Ms. Witkower can be
reached at aw6v@virginia.edu or (434) 924-7643.
