The Faculty Senate Speakers Bureau connects faculty speakers with citizen and educational groups throughout the Commonwealth and U.Va. alumni clubs throughout the country. A joint initiative of the Office of the Vice President and Provost, the Faculty Senate, and the Alumni Association, the Speakers Bureau was created to extend the intellectual community of U.Va. beyond the edges of the grounds; to provide a resource to the citizens of the Commonwealth; and to broaden and diversity the group of faculty who participate in informing, educating, and entertaining citizens of Virginia and alumni groups throughout the nation.

The Speakers Bureau recognizes that lectures and presentations are not just contributions on the part of individuals - they are also a service of the University as a whole and one of the benefits of having a nationally ranked research university in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Commonwealth Lectures civic and nonprofit groups throughout Virginia Scholastic Enrichment Lectures children and youth throughout Virginia Alumni Association Lectures U.Va. Alumni clubs throughout the nation.
