How does our club choose a speaker?

First consider what issues or topics would be of interest to your members. Then search the Speakers Bureau by topic, interest area, speaker last name or keyword and develop a list of 3-5 speaker possibilities. More information.

How do we request a speaker?

Once you have developed a list of 3-5 potential speakers, please go to the request form and complete all the required information. Please allow 5-7 business days for the Speakers Bureau staff to extend the invitation to the faculty member on the club's behalf. Once we receive a response from the speaker, we will contact you directly at the email address or phone number you provide. Request form.

How does scheduling work?

Remember midterms, finals, term papers? Faculty are busy at the beginning and end of the school year.  Some faculty members have requested up to a year advance notice for speaking engagements or are available on a limited basis. Planning your event well in advance and having a few possible dates in mind make it easier to fulfill your requests.We are happy to help you find the best speaker for your club event. What are the hosting club's responsibilities?

Our faculty look forward to talking about their work with a diverse audience and reconnecting with former students. We would greatly appreciate the club acknowledging the UVa Faculty Senate Speakers Bureau in its promotional materials and in the introduction of the speaker.
