• Engaging the Mind: University of Virginia Commonwealth 2020 Lecture Series: The University of Virginia's Commonwealth 2020 Lecture Series offers free public lectures each fall and spring throughout Virginia. Check out the fall schedule and read more about the series.

• The Medical Center Hour is the School of Medicine's weekly conference that deals with current health-related issues and controversies in society and culture, ethics, science and research, law and public policy, and the arts. The Medical Center Hour is held every Wednesday from September through April, from 12:30 to 1:30 pm. Founded in 1971 by former dean Thomas H. Hunter, M.D., this conference is open to the entire University community and to the public.

• Science and Society: A yearlong series of events focusing on the broad implications of scientific research. Coordinated by The University of Virginia Faculty Senate and The Institute for Practical Ethics.
