RESPONSIBILITY OF THE VICE
PROVOST FOR RESEARCH
The Vice Provost for Research has the following responsibilities:
Serve as principal advisor to the Vice President and Provost, the
Vice President for Health Sciences the Executive Vice President and
Chief Financial Officer, and the President on all matters relating
to sponsored research and training programs in the University; in
particular, actively participate in long-range planning as it
affects sponsored research and scientific research.
Serve as continuous focal point of scientific research at the
University, being responsive to both the faculty and administration
in coordinating efforts to enhance scientific research programs.
Advise the the Vice President and Provost as deemed appropriate on
relevant matters in such areas as library, space, etc.
Serve as principal advisor to the Vice President and Provost, the
Vice President for Health Affairs, and the President on all matters
concerning responsibility in institutional research and academic
computing support activities.
Recommend to the academic vice presidents a faculty Research Policy
Advisory Committee of which the Vice Provost will be chairman.
Serve as coordinator and leader in the development of
interdisciplinary sponsored research and training programs. Have
oversight of institutional research, training, and facilities
grants.
Responsible for institutional research support activities such as
radiation safety, human subjects, and research animal use.
Work with the Office of the Vice President and Provost and the
Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer to ensure
adequate institutional oversight of sponsored programs policy.
