           FINANCIAL AND ADMINISTRATIVE POLICIES MANUAL

TITLE: PAYROLL: DIRECT DEPOSIT AUTHORIZATION POLICY: XII.C.2x

DIRECT DEPOSIT AUTHORIZATION

Electronic direct deposit is available through both the University
and Medical Center payroll systems. Electronic direct deposit is
available at most financial institutions throughout the United
States through the Automated Clearing House Network. Direct
deposit assures that employees' paychecks are in their checking or
savings accounts on payday even if they are sick or on vacation.
Eligible employees are strongly encouraged to enroll in direct
deposit.

At least one local bank offers a method so that employees who do
not have bank accounts can take advantage of direct deposit. The
bank(s) accept direct deposit for employees, and they can withdraw
their pay through a limited number of transactions per pay period.

FOR THE UNIVERSITY: Direct deposit is available to classified
salaried staff and salaried faculty for salary paychecks. Direct
deposit cannot be used for overtime checks. For technical reasons,
University wage (temporary) employees and student employees will
not be offered direct deposit until a later date.

Direct deposit is mandatory for all original appointments and
rehires of University salaried staff and salaried faculty who begin
employment after December 31, 1994.

FOR THE MEDICAL CENTER: Direct deposit is available to all
employees paid through the Medical Center payroll system. All
types of pay, including overtime pay, can be deposited through the
direct deposit system.

Direct deposit is mandatory for all original appointments and
rehires of Medical Center salaried and wage employees who begin
employment after December 31, 1994.
