UNIVERSITY TRANSIT SERVICES (UTS)
![]()
This policy describes the uses and availability of the University Transit Services.
2.0 Policy [Top]
UTS is available for unlimited use to all students, faculty, and staff of the University. Users must present either a current student I.D. or a bus pass when boarding. Bus passes are included with staff's and faculty's first vehicle registration and may also be purchased separately. Additional bus passes may be purchased for non-affiliated family members of permit holders.
P&T provide chartered buses for University departments and other affiliated organizations on a first-come, first-served basis. Contact the Charter Representative at 924-7711 for specific information.

Procedure 7-53 "Reserving Charter Buses."
Within 24 hours of receiving a charter request, P&T will provide a written cost estimate and itinerary confirmation. The estimates are for planning purposes only; final charges are based on actual use. P&T will supply a safe, properly maintained bus, a qualified driver, and fuel. Routing will be provided, if requested.
If P&T must cancel the charter request, P&T can contact another charter com--pany, if the customer wishes. In that case, the customer must then pay the other charter company's entire fee.
2.2B Customer ResponsibilitiesCharter Service customers must provide the following.
- A complete itinerary and specific routing instructions in writing, unless provided by P&T.
- Meals and lodging for the driver. Private accommodations are required for the driver, unless previously arranged through P&T.
- Tolls and parking fees paid by the driver. These charges will be billed to the customer.
- Damages to the bus caused by reckless or negligent customer behavior. These charges will also be billed to the customer.
Charters must be cancelled at least 24 hours before pick-up to avoid a $25.00 late cancellation charge. Charters cancelled within 45 minutes of pick-up time will be assessed a minimum usage charge, ie., two hours use plus 20 miles at the current rate.
