This policy and procedure were adopted to ensure that road closings associated with special events are reviewed and approved by one central office at the University of Virginia.
2.0 Policy [Top]
Responsibility for Authorizing Road Closings on University Grounds for Special Events
The Police Department has primary responsibility for authorizing road closings on University Grounds associated with special events (e.g., races, building dedications, ceremonies, etc.) The Police Department is responsible for coordinating road closings associated with special events on University Grounds with the following departments:
- Parking and Transportation
- Facilities Management
- Dean of Students
- Office of Major Events
- Other offices as deemed appropriate.
Authorization for road closings associated with construction and utility work on Grounds will be the responsibility of Facilities Management.
