  What is a Business Professional?      
  At the University of Virginia, a Business Professional is an administrative employee charged with duties ranging from budget to student system activity. They may be responsible for financial information, such as accounting records, grants and contracts, and procurements, or staffing concerns, such as hiring and timekeeping. Although the tasks specific to each Business Professional may be different, some things are always the same.

All Business Professionals must:
  • be committed to the University Code of Ethics
  • endeavor to bring the highest level of professionalism to the discharge of their duties
  All Business Professionals should:
  • seek training and professional development pertinent to their positions
  • attend the University business meetings relevant to their work
    • University Comptroller's Fiscal Administrators Meeting
    • Research Administrators Meeting led by Office of Sponsored Programs
    • Human Resources Users Group for UVA HRMS/Payroll
  • participate in the University Business Professionals Development Network

Basic
  Goal: familiarize employees with University business policies and practices and ensure they have the basic knowledge needed to do their work.
   
  Audience: Any employee who holds or will hold Integrated System financial responsibilities.
