Your Financial Aid Award and What It Means

Students who apply for financial aid from the University of Virginia will receive an email message at the time their award is available to review in the Student Information System (SIS). There is no financial aid award letter sent to the student; instead, the award details are available in the Finances section of the Student Center in the SIS. Click on "View Financial Aid" to review the details and to accept or decline your financial aid. Here, students can also create a .pdf file of their financial aid award to print for their purposes. Click here for more detailed information about the undergraduate official award letter.

If a student's financial aid award package is modified after the release of the official financial aid award, the student will receive an email notfication to this effect. On the .pdf file in the SIS, the student will see a reference code indicating specific reasons for the changes. For a complete list of the codes and their explanations, click here.

If your award is different this year from years past, please review this list of items that can result in changes to your financial aid.
