| Financial aid for January Term is available for eligible undergraduate students currently enrolled at the
University of Virginia. Grant money for January Term is extremely limited, however. Most students who apply for January Term
financial aid will receive student loans.
How To Apply for January Term Financial Aid:
- Complete the online January Term Financial Aid application and return it to Student Financial Services by the priority filing deadline:

- Have a 2008-2009 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form on file.

- Be a registered undergraduate student at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville.
On Grounds
Students who apply for financial aid for January Term - On Grounds by the priority filing date (October 10) will be notified about their eligibility by the first week in November. Any financial aid awarded for January Term will be applied to tuition and fees; the student will be responsible for any costs that financial aid does not cover.
Study Abroad
Students submitting a completed January Term - Study Abroad Financial Aid application by October 1, 2008 will be notified of their financial aid award the week of October 13. Students may submit January Term - Study Abroad Financial Aid applications after October 1, 2008 , but they will not be notified about their financial aid award before the final payment deadline of October 17.
Additional Information:
Federal regulations require that financial aid funds received for January Term be applied to spring semester charges, including any outside bookstore, parking tickets, library fines, or other University charges. If the total amount of financial aid received for January Term and spring semester exceed the charges for spring semester, you will be issued a refund by check or direct deposit. However, spring semester refunds are not processed until after the first day of spring classes. Refunds will not be available before or during January Term.
Students awarded financial aid for the January Term must enroll in the subsequent spring semester. If for any reason a student does not enroll, his/her financial aid eligibility will be terminated and all funds canceled.
