| The University of Virginia understands the financial challenges awaiting families with college students. The rising cost of college, combined with an increasingly broad range of available financing options, requires that today's prospective college student and their family fully understand how to apply for financial aid and the financial aid awards the student may be eligible to receive.
Student Financial Services provides need-based financial assistance to students, many of whom might otherwise be unable to attend the University. Access UVa is our comprehensive financial aid program - designed to keep higher education affordable for all students who qualify for admission - regardless of economic circumstance.
Every student applying to the University for admission is encouraged to apply for Financial Aid through Student Financial Services. We will determine if your child qualifies for federal, state or institutional grants, federal work-study or federal student loans, and we are here to help your family evaluate the financial aid package offered by the University. Regardless of whether your family qualifies for financial aid, our office is committed to assisting your student to successfully manage his/her finances and improve the quality of their student life.
