Deborah Lawrence

I am an associate professor of environmental sciences, specializing in understanding the consequences of land-use change on tropical ecosystems. I was awarded both a Guggenheim and a Fulbright Scholarship to continue work on the effects of "slash and burn"" agriculture and land-use transitions in the tropics. Recently I also was named a Jefferson Science Fellow by the U.S. Department of State, where she will serve as an adviser on climate change. "
