A Founder's Perspective:
Today's U.Va. Through Jefferson's Eyes
On the eve of Founder's Day, President Teresa Sullivan will pose the question, What would Thomas Jefferson think of the University of Virginia if he returned today?
In 1819, the University's founder had a lofty dream when he created an institution "based on the illimitable freedom of the human mind."
To what extent is the University of 2013 fulfilling our founder's vision? In what areas are we excelling, even beyond Jefferson's expectations? In what areas are we falling short, and how can we shape the University's future to meet--and exceed--the high standard set by our founder?
Please join President Sullivan on Thursday, April 11 for a candid and thoughtful look at today's University through Jefferson's eyes.
This event is free and open to the public. A live stream of the president's address will be available here.
