Departmental News:

Two articles by Roy Harris have recently appeared: "Huezi 'dégoût' dans la Bible d'Acre provençale (Ms. BNF, fr. 2426)"in Revue des langues romanes, tome CIX, année 2005, nº 2, pp. 391-412 and "The Occitan Story of Susanna (Ms. BNF, fr. 2426)" in Etudes de langue et de littérature médiévales offertes à Peter T. Ricketts à l'occasion de son 70ème anniversaire (eds. Dominique Billy & Ann Buckley), pp. 153-162. Turnhout: Brepols, 2005.

James Arnold's article "Les lectures de Fanon au prisme américain: des révolutionnaires aux révisionnistes" was published in the January 2006 issue of Les Temps Modernes. In December he was elected Visiting Fellow of Trinity College, Cambridge, for the Lent Term 2007.

Cheryl Krueger presented on an a panel entitled “Preparing Prospective Language Program Directors” at the annual ACTFL convention, held this time in Baltimore. Her article "Surgical Imprecision and the Baudelairean poème en prose." French Forum 27:3 (2002) 55-72 was reprinted in Nineteenth Century Literature Criticism, vol 155 (2005).

Cheryl ’s textbook Mise en scène: Cinéma et lecture is hot off the press (Prentice Hall, 2006).

Hélène Sicard-Cowan's article entitled "Désir colonial et 'conscience historique authentique': La belle Dorothée de Charles Baudelaire" has been accepted for publication in Nineteenth-Century French Studies. She will be presenting a paper entitled "Intimate Exoticism and the 'Savagery' of 'Civilization' in Gustave Flaubert's Par les champs et par les grèves" at the 2006 ACLA Conference at Princeton University in March, as well as at the 2006 Kentucky Foreign Languages Annual Conference at the University of Kentucky, Lexington, in April. She will also present a paper entitled "La rèinvention des relations post-coloniales en France: Lila dit ça (2005) de Ziad Doueiri" at the 2006 congress of the CIEF in Romania in June.
