Instructions for Taking the Placement Test

French Placement Exams can be taken anywhere on grounds on any computer that has access to the Web.

You can use either Internet Explorer or Netscape.

Type in the following url:

http://webcape.byuhtrsc.org/

Select University of Virginia (virginia) from the drop menu, and hit the Go button.

Type in the password: cavaliers1

Click on the language you want to take (French)

From there, you can follow the instructions.

You will receive an email with your placement. If you have fulfilled the FL requirement with a score of 477 or higher, the French Department will forward this information to the registrar. Very important: We occasionally encounter technical difficulties with storage of test data. Save a printout and an electronic copy of your score. If data is lost and you have no record of the score you will have to take the test again.

If you have questions about your score or placement, please contact Professor Cheryl Krueger (clk6m@virginia.edu) and forward your test results along with your message.
