Sample Letter for Absences Which Have Exceeded the Limit, Despite Previous Warnings

[Date]

Dear [Association Dean]:

As you already know from my letter of [date], a student in your association, [student's name], has been repeatedly absent from French [course and section number]. In fact [he] has missed [9 of 18] classes so far.  I discussed the matter with [name] on [date] and sent [him] a letter on [date].  Both of these measures have produced only marginal results: [explain if you wish]  If there is, indeed, some reason to make special accomodations for [student's] absences, please let me know.

As always, thank you for your help in this matter and please contact me if there is anything I can do to help you.

Sincerely,
[Instructor's name]
[Fren _____, Section _____]
