We all know very few students actually
do what they are supposed to do in the language lab. Yet listening, pronunciation,
and speaking practice are very useful and fundamental to language learning.
Select some activities from the current chapter or several recent chapters
and do them in class.

You can either bring the tapes in (you can
check out boom boxes or ancient tape recorders from the lab) or

If it is inconvenient to check out tapes and
tape players, use exercises taken directly from the tapescript. You could
begin with pronunciation alone, then follow up with a reading-for-pronunciation
exercise using a passage from your book.
