The following events are presented by the American Indian Student Union:
- November 5th- Vigils: Afterimages of Violence Against Native American Women. Speaker Claire Raymond. 7:00 – 8:00 PM, location TBA (this event was postponed due to the hurricane.) Put on by Sigma Psi Zeta Sorority, Inc.
- November 8th- AISU at Kluge-Ruhe. Come check out some cool aboriginal art with us! There will be free food and drinks. Meet at the UVA Chapel at 5:20 for a free bus ride to the museum. We will return at 7.
- November 14th- Film Screening: The Only Good Indian. A Sundance film festival selection. “Set in Kansas during the early 1900s, a teen-aged Native American boy is taken from his family and forced to attend a distant Indian “training” school to assimilate into White society.” 7pm, Newcomb Theater
- November 19th- Anti-Thanksgiving Thanksgiving Potluck. Feel free to bring a dish and share some free food! We will discuss Thanksgiving from a Native’s perspective. 5:00 – 7:00 PM in Minor 125. Come and go as you please!
December 1st- 2nd Annual American Indian Fair. Crafts, seminars, independent films, workshops, traditional dress, and fry bread! This promises to be a really cool event. 12:00 – 6:00 PM at Random Row Books on the way to the downtown mall.
