In an effort to unite the Greek-lettered organizations that are not members of the North-American Interfraternity Conference, the National Panhellenic Conference, or the National Pan-Hellenic Council, Inc., the Multicultural Greek Council (MGC) was founded in spring 1999.
The Multicultural Greek Council promotes community service events, professionalism, and scholarship. Many of the organizations sponsor or co-sponsor educational programs regarding hazing, discrimination, and personal safety. All member organizations stress their commitment to the University and Charlottesville communities. Informational sessions about the fraternities and sororities are held throughout the year.
Currently, the MGC consists of Latin, Asian, multicultural and local fraternities and sororities. The sororities and fraternities of the Multicultural Greek Council are:
