Mary Hackett, Associate Editor, The Papers of James Madison

"Ms. Hackett has been on the general faculty and a valuable member of the staff of the Papers of James Madison since 1988. In addition to her professional duties, which include being chief editor of five volumes in our Secretary of State Series, she has served on hiring committees for the PJM. She is involved in community outreach through her volunteer work with her church. Ms. Hackett is also well regarded in the world of documentary editing, serving on several committees of the Association for Documentary Editing (ADE). In 2006 she won the ADE's Lyman H. Butterfield award for notable contributions in the areas of documentary publication, teaching, or service. On a personal level, Ms. Hackett is a serious individual, both co-operative and conscientious, who displays an interest in the future of the University of Virginia. For these reasons I believe she would be a good candidate for the GFC."

"I have served one term on the General Faculty Council, during which I have been a member of the Policy Review committee. If re-elected, I would welcome the opportunity to continue to advocate for my General Faculty colleagues. "
