GFC Goals 2002/03

 

POLICY

 

1.      Continue working with the Provost and General Counsel to finalize the revised Policy on General Faculty

2.      Continue working with the Provost and General Counsel to clarify policy-related issues specific to research faculty

3.      Propose and work toward acquiring health benefits for part-time General faculty, working with other groups as necessary

4.      Clarify and revise as necessary the grievance procedure for the General Faculty

5.      Work with University Administration to make state legislators aware of the General Faculty as a discrete category of state employees and to encourage them to eliminate the salary increase disparities between general faculty and tenured/tenure-track faculty.

6.      Work with University Administration to provide a uniform promotion review procedure for General Faculty.

 

 

DATA COLLECTION

 

1.      Work with University administrators to ensure that General Faculty are identifiable in the Oracle database and that the GFC is able to directly extract relevant information that accurately details the current composition (who/what/where) of the General Faculty

2.      Develop and implement a survey of General Faculty needs and concerns

3.       Do a statistical analysis of the General Faculty membership.

 

 

COMMUNICATION

 

1.                  Increase awareness of General Faculty Council among the University community

2.                  Update/disseminate/publicize General Faculty mission

3.                  Provide pertinent information about General Faculty on our Web site

4.                   Reach out to new General Faculty: create a GFC brochure for the University’s fall “welcome” packet; sponsor a welcome reception each fall

5.                  Create/advertise opportunities for social interaction among General Faculty

6.                  Organize meetings of General Faculty constituencies to talk about concerns and needs.
