The Elections
Committee chair
will clarify with
the data and listserv
managers that
the email lists
for each constituency
are updated.
2.
The Elections
Committee chair
will contact
the Webmaster
to set up the
candidate statement
and ballot websites. |

1st week
in January |
| 3.
The Elections Committee
chair will send
out an email message
announcing upcoming
elections to the
General Faculty
membership. This
announcement will
include a description
of vacancies related
to specific constituencies.
It should include
an invitation to
nominate oneself
or others, along
with the eligibility
rules. A
sample "Call
for Nominations" announcement
is posted in the
Elections Procedure
section of the GFC
website. The address
is: www.virginia.edu/genfac. The
email should be
sent to gf-roster@virginia.edu. |

3rd week
in January with
a
2-week
response deadline |
| 4.
The Elections Committee
chair will contact
nominees to confirm
their eligibility
to serve as a GFC representative
and their intent
to serve on the
Council. The chair
will then ask nominees
to prepare a platform
statement. A sample
platform statement
is posted in the
Elections Procedure
section of the GFC
website for nominees
to review. Platform
statements will
be posted by the
nominee GFC election
website linked to
the GFC homepage,
www.virginia.edu/genfac. |

2nd
week in February
with a
1-week
response deadline |
| 5.
The Elections Committee
will prepare ballots
for each of the
areas (e.g., school,
college, or unit)
where a Council
vacancy exits. A
sample ballot is
posted in the Election
Procedure of the
GFC website. The
chair will send
to the webmaster,
to be posted on
the website, the
ballots for the
appropriate General
Faculty constituents
(e.g., Health System
nominees to Health
System General Faculty). |

4th
week in February |
| 6.
The Elections
Committee chair
will send an email
to the appropriate
constituencies
informing them
of the election,
the website address
on which they
should vote, and
voting deadline.A

1st
week in March with
2-week response
deadline |
| 7.
The Elections Committee
chair will send
a follow-up email
encouraging those
who have not voted
to do so. |

2nd
week in March with
1 week response
deadline |
| 8.
Elections Committee
chair will tabulate
and/or summarize
the election results. |
|
3rd
week of March |
9.
The Elections
Committee chair
will forward
the election
results to the
chair of the
GFC. The new
Council members
will be contacted
by phone by
the chair to
announce the
election results,
confirm their
willingness
to serve, and
to invite them
to attend the
April meeting
of the GFC.
The chair will
also personally
contact the
nominees who
were not selected
notifying them
of results and
thanking them
for their interest
in the GFC.
